Machu Picchu :: The Shifting Wall :: Enormous stones make up the base of the shifting wall, which is said to have settled during Inca times. Gazing upon the eastern section of the Principal Temple summons a feeling of the fantastic. It is remarkable that the leaning stones maintained composure through centuries of powerful earthquakes and left the adjacent walls untouched. The words, stumbling beauty, fall from my lips and take on new meaning.
