Dear DogsBite.org,

Thank you for your website and for the work that you do. When I was in my twenties, I used to believe that people unfairly targeted pit bulls. But now I’m 35-years old, and I research things. I know the statistics on pit bull attacks and the numbers are frightening. Not long ago, I was nearly a victim of a pit bull attack too. Less than a year ago, a woman in a nearby town was horrifically mauled and she ended up losing her left arm. It was a friend’s dog that did the mauling and it was, of course, a pit bull. It is extremely upsetting to me that these attacks (often fatal) are happening nearly everyday across the country. Yet, all I see are so many young people on social media defending pit bulls. These dogs are so strong; the injuries are so damaging. I wish these dogs were not allowed in our communities. – Christa, Oregon
